Veterinarian Baton Rouge -Veterinary
Here in our Baton Rouge veterinarian clinic our patients are often greyhounds. Most people associate greyhounds with racing and assume they need lots of exercise. They can actually be quite lazy! Greyhounds are sprinters not marathon runners. They do need regular exercise but they like to run for a short burst and then get back on theor . Another misconception is that greyhounds must be aggressive because they wear a muzzle. In fact greyhounds love people and are affectionate and gentle with children. Greyhounds usually only race for two or three years but live for 12-14, and after their retirement they make great low maintenance pets. They don't need a lot of space, don't make a lot of noise, and don't eat a lot for their size. A female greyhound is usually up to 65cm tall and a male up to 90cm. There is also a miniature greyhound, the Italian greyhound, which stands only 33cm. Greyhounds come in a variety of colors. Brindle and fawn are the most common. Others include black, white, blue, red and brown or a combination of these. Greyhounds have smooth body coats, low body fat and are very healthy. Because they're slim they don't have the hip problems associated with other the same height. But they do feel the cold, especially since they would much rather be at home in than traipsing around outside. Our Baton Rouge veterinarian clinic offers special help for those with greyhounds in trouble.
