Veterinarian Cincinnati -Veterinary
My son and I took our Pinscher to a Cincinnati veterinarian to get him check up because he had developed this lesion on his skin that he was itching and itching till it became raw and bloody. The vet informed us that sometimes dogs itch because they have fleas or other parasites. He informed us that he would know the full reason until he had studies skin samples that he took from the skin of our poor dog. It turned out that fleas were causing our dog's problem. There had been a local flea infestation for sometime and that was what had brought on this condition. Actually the problem with the fleas was so bad that my son and I were both getting bit too. Well when the results of the skin samples came back the vet put our dog on a strict diet and gave us pills and creams. He also shaved our poor Pinscher and applied a special silver spray to treat our dog's itch. For a while it seemed that our dog was getting better but then he got worse. The vet changed the medication a couple of times but nothing seemed to help. In the end poor our dog was suffering so much that we had to ask the vet to put him down. The problem was that because he was in so much pain when someone would by chance touch his open wounds he would growl or snap and in the end just before we put him down he even bit a couple of people. Our Cincinnati veterinarian told us that it is very important that people take their pets to the vet at the first sign of an itch. Also he said that there are many things that can cause skin lesions on a pet and even the food you feed your pet can have an affect on its skin so never just assume that a pet's itch is being caused by fleas.
