The dog's character: "Imprinting" is the name that is given to the first 5-7 weeks of life of a pup, and this stage is the one in which the dog's character is defined. Socialization is absolutely important. The pup does not know fear or danger in this stage, everything is novelty, so it is curious and active, and that's why a pup this old learns quickly.

Shyness: It can be dangerous, for the animal will feel rejection and fear towards everybody, and my react aggressively. To avoid this, you must encourage the pup to be involved with its environment, take it to the park and make it socialize with other pups.

Aggressiveness and fear: It is not normal for a pup to be aggressive towards strangers , and this kind of behavior is not easily eliminated. You have to be patient and very constant in this situation, and you have to make it usual for him to be near other people or animals. Be caring and show the pup your affection, petting him, talking to him with nice words, but don't harass it. You might want to consult an specialist. If the dog is only aggressive with other dogs, it might be because of a bad experience.

What happens when the dog is aggressive towards the owner? In some cases, a dog disobeys the orders of its owner and behaves threateningly. We must not allow this to happen. This conduct shows the dog disrespect for our authority, and is usually a product of a pup that was spoiled. In this case, we have to be firm and make the dog obey.

How to behave towards an aggressive dog: Unfortunately, aggressive dogs keep getting more common with time. The causes of this problem are many: lack of attention, mistreating, aggressive training, etc. You have to know that if you are too firm or too soft, this may as well be a result. It is necessary to get professional help, as we, even making a great effort, won't be able to deal with this problem. If it is a pup, we just have to be firmer. Don't forget every case is different, and don't follow the advice of people who are not professional.

Why does a dog bark so much? Through barking, a dog expresses surprise or mistrust in certain situations. It is an alarm and it is supposed to be used only when necessary. However, there are many cases in which a dog learns to get what it wants by barking. The solution is simple: don't give it what it wants.

And what if it makes a mess in the house? The truth, as shocking as it is, is that most of this mess and destruction is caused because of love. The dog is showing it feels lonely and frustrated. A solution to this problem is to allow the dog to spend time with us, maybe while we are working. Try and take it for a walk in the mornings, before going to work, so it gets tired and won't be mischievous. If we have to be absent for a long time, then we have to make it run for one hour if it's an adult, or 20 minute if it's a pup, then, take the dog for the first time to a room with a closed door. Leave it with a piece of your clothing, a toy and a turned-on radio, not too loud. Then you can go do whatever you want: some reading: cooking, anything, if the dog starts crying or scratching the door, say No! firmly and close the door again. Repeat as much as necessary. Practice every day for one hour until it gets used to being lone, then do the same but in another place of the house.
