Insulated Dog House Plan -Installing the Insulation and Exterior Paneling Step 08a
Installing the Insulation and Exterior Paneling
1 -- Small bag of Insulation (any brand will do)
1 -- Pair of Gloves
1 -- Mask
1 -- Weather Resistant Exterior Paneling (Cedar or treated Pine are great)
There are many different kinds of insulation that you can use and are easily available at any hardware store. Most insulation is tightly packed in bags and expands to over twice the size when removed from the bag.
Most insulation is made from fiberglass with tiny glass particles which can be quite dangerous if not used with caution.
Insulation is not exactly expensive; however there are other cheaper alternatives. Shredded newspaper is simple alternative and can be used as insulation.
1. Pack the insulation in the front and back framework.
When putting the insulation, make sure all the empty spaces are filled and the insulation is packed in quite tightly, not bulging since you need to place the exterior paneling over it.
2. Once the insulation is in place, attach the exterior paneling. When attaching the paneling start from the bottom up, or if you prefer you can start from the top of the A-frame and work on down.
Tongue and groove floor paneling is also good to use for the exterior wall paneling since it's easy to put together and it gives it a smooth finish when joined together.
Since you'll be using many sizes of paneling on the , it might be easier to buy several long lengths of it and cut them with the jigsaw to the appropriate sizes you'll need.
