Diet Veggie Recipes for Cats?

Cats are without a doubt obligate carnivores, but some cat caretakers prefer to feed a vegetarian diet. Often this is for moral reasons based on the care of food animals in our society today. Meal for a Cat with Allergies

  • 1 cup brown rice
  • 2 pound lean ground lamb

Bring rice to a boil on the stove in two cups of water. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 40 minutes. Check rice frequently and when done add remaining ingredients and mix. Freeze half and put half in the refrigerator for daily meals.

  • ½ tablespoon of melted butter
  • Pinch of psyllium husks
  • Pinch of powered bran
  • 2 tablespoons of water

Mix all these ingredients together and place in your cat's bowl as a treat twice a day if she is constipated.

Preparing a homemade Treat

Sardine treats

  • 1 cup canned sardines, mashed
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg

Preheat oven to 350.

Mix ingredients together and drop by the spoonful onto a greased baking sheet. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool and serve. Store remaining treats by freezing or in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Leftovers for the Kitty

  • 1 cup leftover cooked rice
  • 1 cup leftover chicken
  • ¼ cup cat greens
  • 1 egg

Preheat oven to 350.

Mix together ingredients. Roll into balls. Place on greased baking sheet and cook for 10 minutes. Cool and serve. Extra servings can be placed in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
